New material from Top Records

Check these 2 new vids from a crew representing Chalkhill, NW LDN called Top Records or 'Random Mandem' headed and produced by B Dodgy. A solid teamwith regular input from Flirta D.
This first vid is straight up hip hop and has that mid 90s Lord of the underground 'Cheif Rocka' style production and sound which is not easy to resurrect, but strong here with ex armed forces member Olos taking lead vocals.

Next vid is featuring Flirta D, with production from Papers. More on a road rap vibe, goes in hard (even if it does sample Bryan Adams - Everything I Do, the theme tune from Robin Hood)!

N Dubz minus fazer meet LA Reid at IslandDef Jam

That's Def Jam's PARENT company. Fazer reckons he has work to do tho so by the looks of it the groups PRODUCER isn't going. Does something smell fishy here? What are the chances Fazer may not be part of the future of n dubz... he doesn't seem fazed (no pun intended, honestly). It's not like he's got to worry about someone like Frazer T Smith stealing his business . He's a fairly impressive producer & is also someone I could predict Def Jam bringing with who's sound would travel well to the States

Who said Lowkey can't do grime?

Cos they had the same thought as me. I can understand how overly politicised UK Hiphop doesn't pay too many bills but if you're gonna cross over to grime listen to the competition you got 1st. Check out his video with DJ Gone below this one tho, He does his thing...

2 new tracks from Grime's elite

Sidetracked - Jme ft Wiley.
I'm still not 100% convinced on this, despite it being from 2 of my favourite grime artists. The concept of the tune's good but I just don't think the vocoder/auto-tune bring out the best in this track. Look out for Wiley's 'replacement' in the video. When he's got the reputation of never turning up for ANYTHING, contingency plans start to take priority when Will's involved! This is out for download on Feb 21.


Skepta Ft P Money & Blacks - Spit Big Bars
Straight up hard grime. Bars, beats, aggyness. Can't go wrong! Watch out for Skepta's latest mixtape which is a compilation of his previously unreleased material 'Been There Done That'.

Niyi's got Jungle Fever

Rapper, DJ, Musician, club promoter, and fashionista Niyi released his 6 track E.P ‘Jungle Fever' earlier this month.
Not good if you've got a hangover but better heard in the club whilst you get it crunk! His music is funky and hypnotic, with some heavy basslines to make most speakers sweat. If you like Faithless then you'll like Niyi, but don't try and fit this into a genre!
Check a couple of tracks off the EP right here, in the words of my homie Higher Elements, when I played it to him, "10/10 production"!! Tell me if you agree...

This isn't the type of blog that you'll see every SBTV video posted up (i'll leave that to other sites), but this one from Frisco of Boy Better Know kills it! He go's in over 'Wooo' by S-X and confirms why he's one of my favourite grime MCs. Look out for Trilla's vocal of the beat, absolutely disgusting. If you have a mp3 of it pls send it my way!
