Willie The Kid is the sh!t.

An album from an artist I been following for the last year or 2, Willie the Kid, repping Atlanta, has hit the streets and it's straight FIRE. The albums called 'Absolute Greatness'. Brought into the game by DJ Drama and regularly seen with fellow Aphiliate, LA the Darkman, who 's also from Atlanta, but sounds like a Brooklyn emcee who's been grindin for years. Peep their collab with Twista and Devin the Dude and Denaun Porter on a CLASSIC track called 'Beneath The Diamonds' and their equal classic track with one of greatest synth based beats entitled 'Makin Money Smokin Weed'. The best way to describe Willie is a more street version of Lupe but with that similar classic combo of lyrics, flow and swagger... mad swagger! I could try to give a proper review but instead I'm gonna give you the tracks I thought stood out instead:
  • Splendid!
  • Coogi Down (with a gully Biggie sample)
  • The W
  • Let Em Know [Feat. Lonnie Mack & LA The Darkman]
  • Love for Money

Check the video below, a lead single of the album; entitled 'Love for Money' with Trey Songz providing a great hook. Not too keen on Gucci Mane's verse but generally quite a banger, with a heavy hitting bass.

Willie The Kid - Love For Money feat. Gucci Mane, LA The Darkman, Yung Joc, Bun B & Trey Songz

New grime track from I.N.C.

New grime/dubstep material from INC, produced by Medison. Some real dubstep influenced double time complex rhyme shit right here, repping North London. Expect some more on this vibe pretty soon. Leave a comment and let us know what you think.

I'd put Sway and Wretch in my top 5 UK rappers right now but...WTF?

Seriously though, I do rate these dudes as actual acts, over just an emcee, and correct me if i'm mistaken, but it seems as though Sway and Wretch's bars and subtle metaphors would most likely slip past a bunch of 8 year olds, not to mention their teachers..
An ordeal like this seems only like something the Met would dish out as Community service?!

I reckon this must've been conceived thru Wretch's grammatically themed anthem and Sway's charming mass appeal, but I don't think little Derek thought he'd still be doing this after signing(/singing?) with Konvict Musik!

In the mean time make it your duty to listen to this tune at least 3 times, which I'm officially chiseling in as one of the (if not the #1) tunes of 2008 and strong a forthcoming track of his new album which came out just this week; Wretchrospective. Make sure you buy that!

Wretch 32 Ft Ghetto & Badness - Ina The Ghetto

And a nomination for LINE of the year from Ghetto (or Ghetts as he's now officially known)

Sincere, Joell Ortiz & Natty - Once Upon A Time (Remix)

A never before seen Brooklyn to Finsbury Park collaboration, US/UK exclusive video. Sincere, Joell Ortiz and Natty connect. Tunes pretty live but Joell Ortiz' verse and performance in the vid are a bit cringey in my opinion. Can't understand why a guy would be so happy after being dropped of Aftermath either. A big look for the UK tho, get some exposure from the yankee cats, though this vid doesn't prove that we can be gutter, which is their general view of the UK scene imo..
