Video: DaveyBoyz - Dubstep Santa (prod. by NSG)

Another Christmas themed video this time on a dubstep flavour. Performed by someone I've never heard of but coincidentally, it's produced by someone I blogged last in February 2009. Definitely worth a watch if the thought of seeing a skanking santa doesn't bring back any regrettable memories.

Video: 'A Good Christmas' - US hip hop parody Xmas style.

Finally a hip hop parody that isn't cliched and predictable! 2CentTV have more-or-less accurately mimicked the voice/rap style/image to 15 of the biggest/most well known mainly hip hop stars of the last few years. Despite a few predictable impressions, they've hit the spot here I reckon. I was rofling a few times if that counts for anything.

There are a number of major artists excluded from the list, including Akon, Diddy, Snoop, 50, I could go on. Had they refused to be parodied (if indeed they were asked) or are they becoming less relevant?

The track is called 'A Good Christmas' and features parodies of Nicki Minaj, Eminem, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Drake, Chris Brown, Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, Rihanna, Birdman, Plies, Waka Flocka, Willow Smith, Lady Gaga & Wyclef. Considerable effort I reckon! Imagine it happening with the UK's biggest!

Here's the Kanye West GOOD Friday style artwork for it.

Review: Marger - Kushwave EP

Logan Sama declared Marger "is at the forefront of a new wave of young MC's bringing back the authentic underground sound of grime..." Although Kushwave is a strong body of work, there is a little more to do to fully back up the earlier statement.

On "My Thing", we hear Marger's personal progression, from his early days of doing dirt to making changes in his life for him and his daughter. Sibling's hook sits well on the track and breaks up Marger's verses nicely.

"Stress" is littered with angry vocals over a bassy beat which gives an insight into Marger's daily grind. The production reflects the knuckle-head approach to his lyrics and angelic vocal sample lulls you into a false sense of security before the vocals crash through the beat once again.

On "Grime Ting" Marger flows over a rasping, filthy beat, addressing the haters and showcasing everything we love about grime bars. Production takes on a slightly more dubstep stance with thundering riffs and a few vocal samples thrown in for extra effect.

Spitting over a synthy Rude Kid-esque beat, on "Power" he delivers bars about the raw physicality and emotive aspects of sex. Mercston weighs in with a feature, but his "sweet boy" persona doesn't especially add anything to the tune.

On RIP, Badness delivers the hook on a thumping bassy beat. Marger brings more knuckle-headed "bang, bang, shank, shank" bars where he tells us that he's never been rushed. Badness' hook stays on the same grimy theme but is slightly below par for someone of his standard although by the end they definitely don't seem like a team you 'wan fi try test'!!

Kushwave is a good insight into Marger's mind, and begins to elevate him from an MC to 'artist' status, but there is room for improvement before he can justify being on the front line of the new wave. Definitely worth the purchase tho!.
